Stevens Soulwood L

Beitrag von Andy »

Hello,
I'm a newbie on the forum. I live in New York, don't speak German (I'm sorry to say) but I've heard that there are enough forum members who speak English, so I'm hoping you can help me.

I have just purchased a new Stevens Soulwood L Model. Can anyone tell me, honestly, how it is for fingerstyle? Also, what strings are recommended for the guitar? Can I try medium gauge, like are on my dreadnought, or should I stay with the lights?

Thank-you for any help and advice. The guitar, hopefully, arrives on Friday.

Hello Andy, welcome to this community!

You should be able to answer that one yourself. It is your guitar after all. (I hope you remember why you bought the guitar in the first place.) Judging from my experience with a Soulwood Baritone (which is an "L" model with a longer neck) that I've had briefly it should be well suited for fingerstyle.

I don't see why the guitar shouldn't accept mediums (13s).

One question: how much are these fine German guitars over there?

Thanks for the reply. I have a nice Bourgeois dreadnought that I play fingerstyle on, and it sounds great. It is strung with 13s, aslo, just as you suggest for the model L. I really just wanted other players' input on how this model (the L) would be with fingerstyle.

Regarding the price, I did not purchase this at a store. I don't even know if they are carried here at all. I bought it from a fellow member of the Acoustic Guitar Forum (the one that's here and in Canada.) Actually, it's coming from a player in Canada who only owned it a little while. It was between $1500 and $2000.

For the appropriate string gauge I would ask the guys that build these instruments:
