Info about the Workshop:

Mike Marshall has been one of the premier innovators in American string band music for over 35 years.

Come spend a few hours with Mike as he takes a comprehensive look into his vast world of mandolin styles and techniques from Bluegrass, to Jazz, Blues, Dawg, Classical and Brazilian music.

Mike will cover everything from the most fundamental issues all mandolinists struggle with to your more advanced technical and theoretical questions.

Mike has been teaching for his entire 40 year + career and has been running his own online teaching school since 2012. He was partners with David Grisman in the creation of the Mandolin Symposium in 2003 in California, the world' most popular mandolin educational event.

Mr. Marshall is a master communicator and patient teacher and has years of experience dealing with a wide variety of student levels in one classroom. He will break down his mandolin playing into simple digestible parts.

Topics Covered:

-Right and left hand technique
-Fingerbusters and Open String exercises
-Interpreting a simple melody with tremolo
-Playing rhythm in a band - Bluegrass chop chords, funky grooves, Swing basics and Brazilian rhythms.

-Soloing on Bluegrass vocal tunes (Using the melody as the source)
